Our ‘Talents Fund’ provides small grants of up to £500 to Church of England churches in financially deprived areas for new work focused on learning, growing and developing in Christian discipleship.
This includes…
- Deepening learning about Christian faith and practice in a way which makes sense in your neighbourhood
- Developing new approaches, activities or resources for exploring Christian discipleship within or beyond your worshipping community or in the places where ‘church’ and ‘community’ meet
- Supporting the deepening of Christian discipleship amongst adults and/or children and young people and/or intergenerational groups
- Doing something to deepen understanding/practice of Christian discipleship which you wouldn’t otherwise be able to do.
To be eligible to apply, your parish should…
- Be situated within the Dioceses of Birmingham, Coventry, Hereford, Lichfield and Worcester.
- Be amongst the 20% ‘most deprived’ parishes within your diocese, according to Indices of Multiple Deprivation statistics for Church of England parishes (please check ‘Eligible Parishes’ table below).
- Have a clear appetite to do more to help people learn more about Christian faith and go on a deeper journey of discipleship (this shouldn’t only be the incumbent’s desire but also that of others within the church community too)
- Not currently be receiving significant investment in a project with a focus on growing/deepening discipleship from another source (e.g., SMMIB)
- Be in a position to make use of a grant over the coming 6-12 months
Please see Information and Guidance for Applicants document below for full details of what costs are/not eligible, and how to apply.
