Education professionals, public bodies and private companies often want to be attentive to the religious diversity of their students, staff and clients, but don’t know where to start.  The Religious Literacy Podcast is a new series of conversations with a range of experts in the study of religion, exploring the changing landscape of religion, non-religion and the spiritual in today’s diverse society.

Educational rather than proselytising, the Religious Literacy Podcast is aimed at those working in 16+ educational settings, but useful for others too.  Getting beyond ‘learning facts about religions’, we delve into the nature and experience of religious, spiritual and non-religious lives in the contemporary UK.

This podcast is hosted by St Peter’s Saltley Trust and was born out of the Religious Literacy in FE: A Social Justice Approach  project being led by Dr Paul-Francois Tremlett at the Open University.

Series 1 episodes will be released over May/June 2026.  Look out for:

  • What is ‘Religious Literacy’? – with Paul-Francois Tremlett (Open University)
  • Multiple Religious belonging – with Rhiannon Grant (University of Birmingham)
  • What is ‘Spirituality’?  and Are “Values” becoming a new Religion? – with Linda Woodhead (Kings College London)
